Kidney Pain and Kidney Infections

Kidney infections can cause a number of symptoms, including a strong urge to urinate, a burning sensation while urinating, abdominal pain, fever and back or groin pain. Luckily, if you've been diagnosed with a kidney infection, there are some steps you can take to alleviate your symptoms.

If you have a kidney infection, try the following:

  • Apply a heating pad to your back or abdomen.
  • Take a non-aspirin pain medication, such as Tylenol. If your pain is severe, ask your doctor if he can prescribe a pain medication.
  • Drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated and to flush the infection-causing bacteria from your urinary tract.

Of course, if you think you have a kidney infection, always see your doctor.
